Ministry
All are welcome to join our Sunday morning Worship Service at 10:30 AM (9:30 AM in the summer).
Our Christian Education director and volunteers hold Sunday School for youths beginning at mid-point in the service. Adult Bible study takes place in meetings of the men's and women's groups and is held on Sunday mornings when there is interest. The church library is available for use by our members.
Music is an important aspect of worship at First Presbyterian Church. The Chancel Choir sings at each worship service from September through June. The bell choir, the Steeple Bells, performs once a month during that time. In the summer there is special music for each service arranged by the music director.
Vacation Bible School has been held in recent years during the first week of August with other churches, at First United Methodist Church. Three of our church youth are attended Triennium in 2007. Deacon Charles Flannigan attended as as youth advisor.
Through Book Explorers we have learned about some new and challenging approaches to church ministry that encourage us to think "outside the box." Our first book was Selling Swimsuits in the Artic. Our second book was It Takes a Church to Raise a Village. Discussions were held at church in July, 2006. This book reports a challenging approach to service through the church which can result in very significant growth.
First Presbyterian Church of Auburn scholarship funds provide support for college and technical school students who are members or the children or grandchildren of members. These funds bear the names of 26 donor church members and the parents of our former pastor Dennis Haines and his wife Donna.
